      • Now that you've heard the Bruce story, think of one really interesting (sad, serious, funny, inspiring, etc.) personal (MUST have happened to you) story and share with your group:
        • Where did it take place?
        • When did it take place?
        • Who was involved?
        • What happened?
    • Activity--What Makes A Good Story
      • 5 Elements of Good Storytelling--Paul Jarvis
        • Simple
          • Easy to understand.
          • Often told in a language that matches the way the intended audience communicates.
          • Easier to grasp and remember.
        • Emotional
          • Usually contain one or more: humor, challenge (pain), joy
        • Truthful
          • It does not need to be scientifically proven.
          • Storyteller believes in what he/she is sharing and seems honest.
          • Audience believes in what is being shared.
        • Real
          • Usually first-hand experiences. (You should be involved IN the story.)
          • It is clear how that story directly relates to and/or impacts the storyteller.
        • Valid
          • Works for any audience--one to one-million listeners.
          • It's not important how many people hear the story; it matters that someone, somewhere is listening to it.
