  • Introduction to Fear Unit
    • For each video, think about one thing that you can relate to about fear.
    • Introductory Discussion
      • Check Activity--Introduction to Fear Journal
        • Think back to your Special Object Speech & Colors Speech. I want you to consider how fearful you were during your Special Object Speech & Colors Speech.
          • Special Object Speech
            1. On a scale of 1 (NOT STRESSFUL AT ALL) to 10 (EXTREMELY STRESSFUL), how STRESSFUL was the Special Object Speech BEFORE you presented?
            2. Describe how you felt BEFORE the speech. Were you more fearful the day before or just before presenting? What reactions did you have? Butterflies in your stomach? Sweating? Nervous? Nothing?
            3. How did you feel AFTER the speech? Were you relieved, still nervous, or frustrated?
            4. Colors Speech
              1. On a scale of 1 (NOT STRESSFUL AT ALL) to 10 (EXTREMELY STRESSFUL), how STRESSFUL was the Colors Speech BEFORE you presented?
              2. Describe how you felt BEFORE the speech. Were you more fearful the day before or just before presenting? What reactions did you have? Butterflies in your stomach? Sweating? Nervous? Nothing?
              3. How did you feel AFTER the speech? Were you relieved, still nervous, or frustrated?
              4. Compare the Two Speeches

              • As you watch, consider these questions:
              1. Do you have a fear of:
                • Failure?
                • Success?
              2. How do you react when you encounter fear?
                • Do you shut down? (Yes/No)
                • Do you fall into a "worst case or doomsday scenario" downward spiral? (Yes/No)
              3. When it comes to Public Speaking, think about these questions?
                • What if I fail? How will I recover?
                • What if I do nothing?
                • What if I succeed?
              4. What is ONE THING you can do to begin changing your attitude about encountering your fear?
