8-31-2016 PS--Special Object Speech Presentations

  • Special Object Speech
    • Speech Group Sharing
      • Select a facilitator.
      • Share your special object and what you plan to say about it with your group.
    • Special Object Speech Journal
      • Activity #1--Special Object Speech Strengths
        • Write each person's name down when presenting. After their speech, list one thing they did well in their speech.
    • Special Object Speech Presentations
      • Turn in Student Information Sheet when giving speech.
    • Debrief
      • Enjoy and appreciate your object.
      • It represents you and YOU are important in a speech--YAWP!
  • Speech Group Discussion
    • What are your thoughts/feelings about Public Speaking so far?
    • What questions do you have about this class?
  • Plan for Tomorrow
  • Name Game Explanation
HOMEWORK
  • If you have presented your speech, complete the following journal (Due Thursday):
    • Activity #2--Special Object Speech Personal Reflection
      • Be sure to NUMBER each answer.
      1. How did you feel before the day before your presentation?
      2. How did you feel just before your presentation?
      3. How did you feel after your presentation?
  • If you have not presented--Create and be prepared to present your Special Object Speech
    • Organization
      • Introduce the object.
      • Explain the object in detail. Share the situation of that particular object.
      • Explain the significance/meaning/connection that you have to this object. What makes it special and/or important?
      • Conclude with a brief summary of your speech and a sentence that gives a sense of finality to your speech.
    • Grading
      • 5 Points--You must create a visual aid of your object and submit the link in the Google Form.
        • Post the link to your visual aid on my Google Form. (NOTE: You must be logged into the Edina Apps portal to access this. If you are having trouble, don't worry. Talk to Mr. Buckley in class on speech day.)

        • 5 Points--Your speech must last 30 seconds or longer.
          • Speak for at least 30 seconds.
        • 5 Points--You must bring in an outline on a note card.
          • You can take note cards from the front of the room.
    • Fill out and return the Student Information Sheet. (Due Tuesday)
    • Get a Public Speaking Notebook & Folder (Due Tuesday)
    • Sign Up for Remind (Due Tuesday)
    • Bring note cards, hand sanitizer, hand lotion, or Kleenex and one of the following items to leave in the classroom for community  consumption: glue sticks, pens, pencils, highlighters, dry erase markers, note cards, hand sanitizer, or hand lotion. (Due Friday)
